PicoPeta Simputers has been awarded the “Best Product on Display” award for showcasing their handheld computer, the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer at the India PC Expo held between May 8 and May 11, 2003, at Sri Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore.
The many demos showcased on the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer were extremely well received by expo attendees. While children enjoyed annotating their favorite cartoons, older people sent each other handwritten messages over a wireless Simputer. Corporate customers meanwhile, were excited by the range of connectivity options the bel-picopeta Simputer provides, and the various devices (like 802.11b, mobile printer) it works with.
Demos of Joy
A recurring theme at the stall was the sheer joy on the faces of the attendees, as they experienced technology like never before. Some of the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer’s features showcased were:
GESTURE RECOGNITION: The built-in flip-flop demonstrated the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer’s amazing ability to adapt to the user’s surroundings. In this demo, people could turn the pages of a photo album with a flick of their wrists!
WIRELESS CHAT: Children and adults exchanged handwritten messages over a wireless network: the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer could take Instant Messaging and SMS to unprecedented levels.
PICTURE ANNOTATION: We commemorated Mother’s Day (which fell on the final day of the Expo) by offering our younger visitors a chance to wish their Mothers. Children (of all ages!) could scribble on pictures of their choice and take printouts (on a regular DeskJet) for Mama.
WIRELESS WEB BROWSING: They say there is no such thing as checking email too many times. And so it proved among our visitors, who could not get enough of Yahoo! Mail, Rediffmail etc. on the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer’s full-featured web browser.
YOUR PICTURE ON THE SIMPUTER: A simple digital camera connected to the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer allowed visitors to have a picture clicked and see it on the Simputer almost instantly.
On display at the Expo were some posters that illustrate the spirit behind the BEL-PicoPeta Simputer. Here are thumbnails – click on them for larger versions.
